WII SALES STRONGER THAN WII U ON DEBUT MONTH

The reports are finally in and it looks like the Nintendo Wii was the better selling item on it's launch that the Nintendo Wii U.

The Wii launched in December 2006, which it sold about 475,000 Wii units and had completely emptied the entire stock. Due to the high sales, it took Nintendo almost an entire year to replenish the stock as the demand increased.

November 18, 2012 was the launch date for the newest console, the Wii U. In the first week, Nintendo sold roughly 400,000 Wii U units.

Despite the previous prediction from the analyst group EEDAR, which predicted roughly 600,000 Wii U unit sales in December, the company only managed to sell about 460,000 units.

The marketing executive for Nintendo has denied that the Wii U has underperformed.

"While the Wii launch established benchmarks in the United States, Wii U has surpassed its predecessor in perhaps the most important category: revenue generation." said Nintendo of America sales executive Scott Moffitt.

The Wii scored roughly $270 million in revenue in December 2006, while the Wii U has netted almost $300 million in revenue in the U.S.

In comparison, Microsoft sold 1.4 million Xbox 360s during the month of December.
